The JROTC/ROTC Banquet was a success. All schools but one came, and certificates were handed out. Medals are on backorder and I told the attendees as soon as they arrived, I would make a trip to each school.

Next activity for we veterans will be supporting local cities/veterans’ organizations Memorial Day activities. If you march in a parade, give a speech or just go to an event, please tell me/email me so I can report the activity in our quarterly report to the Ohio Council of Chapters.

Reminder — did you go to the MOAA website and click on Advocacy? Remember, you can do this once a month. I have each beginning week on may calendar marked AiA to remind me. This helps MOAA when they go to the Hill and ask our congressional persons to pass bills to help active, former and retired personnel. As well as spouses.

I have asked that officers send me a biography of their duties. Some of these may make good articles in our newsletter. BUT more importantly, I could use these when I visit JROTC units. The idea is to have a “fireside chat” at the schools. It could be during the school day. Or just after school. Talk with the training cadre. Maybe they would have some cadets attend. More on this later.

Thank you for your attention to these matters,

Major William J. Maki
President OWRC
