OWRC President Public Service Announcement

This is a public service announcement from our OWRC President. This will be posted on the OWRC Home Page and also under the Personal Affairs Tab

Hey Members!

Have you checked your house number on your house? From the local Fire Departments, they offer this advice:

a) put your house numbers directly on your house, apartment or garage (depends on what the people in the fire truck can see as they come zooming down your street)

b) Or – by the street or on a post or sign made of fire resistant material

c) Or – on the mailbox or curb (Cuyahoga Falls did this curb thing in the past, but, people parked their cars on the street, obscuring the numbers)

d) Or – anywhere the number can easily be seen from the road (see a, above)

e) And – the numbers are easy to read – not in cursive style – that means in block numbers

f)  And – they are at least 4 inches tall.

g) And – maybe reflective at night.

Why?  Well, fire trucks and ambulances need to quickly identify the building. And utility service trucks (gas, water, electric, city trucks, etc.) and postal trucks.

Well, now we include FedEx and Amazon deliveries. And do not forget the all-important pizza deliveries as well as Uber and Door Dash, etc., etc.

And what if you live in the country? A sign on the road where the driveway is. And if multiple houses are on this side road, a number sign for each building/home, etc.

You know where you live, but, if the truck cannot find you, minutes are lost – and if it is a fire or medical emergency, those minutes mean the rescue goes as planned, or…. well, you can guess the rest.
