Wayne V. “Bud” King
Wayne V. King (Bud) was born May 26, 1922 in Akron to Lyle and Vera King. He passed away August 20, 2012 and joined his wife Alberta in Heaven.
Wayne served in the “Battle of the Bulge” of World War II as a Paratrooper in 17th Airborne Division. He married Alberta after World War II. He also leaves his son, Daniel and daughter Rebecca and her husband Mark Vandenberg. He was an excellent father.
He was in Military Intelligence after World War II in Army Reserves. He was Director of U.S. Army Reserve Schools and stayed active in Military Organizations all his life. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel. A graduate from Akron University after World War II in Mechanical Engineering, he assumed control of his father’s King Sign Company until 2010 and was a “PREMIER SIGN DESIGNER.”
He also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews, and many military friends.
Calling hours 4 to 7 Thursday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn 44333, where Pastor Tom Sawyer will conduct service at 1:30 Friday. Interment at Copley Cemetery, with Military services conducted by Copley Honor Guard. Donations should be made to the Military Officers Association of America, in care of the funeral home, where Wayne served as President and Treasurer.
