November 2024 President’s Notes
Thoughts and dates for November 2024.
We had our October meeting at Sarah’s Vineyard, and it was great fun. We had an excellent turnout, and although the weather was a bit chilly, we were able to sit outside in the Pavillion and enjoy not only our meeting, meal, and camaraderie but also watch the Guardians win one of their playoff games.
The purpose of the meeting was to finalize nominations for our November Chapter elections. The slate of nominees for election are:

- Additional nominations will be called for from the floor during the meeting.
- We also need a Newsletter Editor, a Legislative Liaison, and an ROTC/JROTC Liaison.
Our OWRC election for 2025 officers will be held on Wednesday, 13 November 1130 to 1300 at Michael’s AM, 1562 Akron Peninsula Rd, Akron, OH 44313.
This meeting will also include our first Doughboy Meal and Chapter Fundraiser. (Commemorating the 1918 American Doughboys of World War One )

- Total cost is $20 per meal.
Meal $10, $5 for OWRC, $5 for Michael’s A.M. waitstaff
Extra items ordered will be charged to the customer.

Doughboy, an American Infantryman, especially in World War I.

The Christmas Party, Officer Installation, and Cookie Exchange are scheduled for Friday, 6 December 1800 – 2100 at The Galaxy Restaurant in Wadsworth. This meeting will include the Installation of the 2025 Chapter Officers, our annual Cookie Exchange, and entertainment by the Manchester HS Choir. Duane Carlson is returning on the piano for background music.
