The Ohio Western Reserve Chapter (OWRC) of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)is pleased to welcome you to 2d Annual Doughboy Breakfast.
The meal commemorates the 11th of November 1918, when all fighting in WW I was to stop at the 11th hour of the 11th Day of the 11th month. Originally called Armistice Day, it is now called Veterans Day.
The typical military breakfast in WW I was oatmeal, pork sausages, fried potatoes, bread and butter, and coffee. Please order at least one of the items below, or more, in remembrance of all Veterans.
- Pork sausage, fried. Or tinned meat
- Bread and butter. Or biscuit. Jelly.
- Oatmeal or fried potatoes. Onions if available.
- One piece fruit, fresh or dried.
- Sultanas (golden raisins)
- Vegetables – boiled or dried
- Cheese – 3 oz. Coffee or tea,
You may order other items from the menu to please your palate.
$5.00 of each meal cost goes to the OWRC Charity fund. Please tip the Wait Staff
Please arrive by 1130 so the meals may be ordered. There will be a recital of the poem “Flanders Field” at the conclusion of the meal. Also come prepared to discuss why WW I American soldiers were call “Doughboys”
